About Dakshina kannada district deaf Association (R)
The Dakshina Kannada District Deaf Association (DKDDA) is a community-led association based in Mangalore, working for the welfare, rights, development and empowerment of Deaf people across the district. Founded by and for the Deaf community, DKDDA brings members together through sports, education, cultural activities and advocacy, and works to make public institutions, workplaces and society more accessible and inclusive for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals
Our Vision
A society in Dakshina Kannada district where every Deaf person lives with dignity, equal opportunity and full participation in education, employment, sports and community life.
Our Mission
To organise, support and advocate for the Deaf community through sports development, education, skill-building and awareness programs, and to represent Deaf athletes and citizens at every level.
1. Promote the welfare, dignity and rights of Deaf people in Dakshina Kannada district.
2. Encourage education, vocational training and employment opportunities for Deaf members.
3. Organise and support sports activities, and train Deaf athletes for state and national competitions.
4. Create public awareness about Deaf culture, Indian Sign Language and accessibility.
5. Provide a platform for Deaf people to connect, communicate and support one another
History & Achievements
Over the years, DKDDA has grown from a small group of Deaf residents in Mangalore into a recognised district association, fielding sportspersons at state and national Deaf tournaments, running awareness and skill-development programs, and supporting members through employment guidance and community welfare initiatives.
